Wilson Wilson talks about Daily Jobs
‘Daily Jobs’ is the opening track of the new album DAY RIPPER out on Wild Honey Records on October 8th, and it encapsulates its sound and themes in the space of just over three minutes. Inspired by artists like The Uranium Club, Coneheads, The Sueves, Gee Tee, DEVO, and… Blink 182 haha.
This song, and the album as a whole, are basically the summary of our lives in the last couple of years, split between working in a factory during the day and playing our music at night.
Sonic Boomerang: Is that, like, Sonic the Hedgehog’s new weapon? A new shake from that burger drive-in? Psychedelic punk-rock whipped into the abyss and returned with aerodynamic force?
NPR on Bee Bee Sea’s Sonıc Boomerang album
We had the verse riff from long time before but we never managed to find a decent chorus until we had this idea of slowing down the tempo and glue this melodic chorus which is one of the best we’ve ever written. Wilson (singer/guitarist) wrote the lyrics during the work shift and and it is there that the plot is mostly set or cited with references scattered here and there. As it can be seen in the video made by Francesca Papi it appears twice a flag with a sock on it; this is because the town where we come from (Castel Goffredo) is the Italian hosiery district and where most of its inhabitants (Wilson included) is employed.
